Which of my two builds is better

Hello all,I want the longest lasting system.I won't overclock...

So should i get this and sli in the future?

First build:
i5-3470 (no difference in performance, cheaper)
No aftermarket cooler needed as no OCing
Drop to H77 motherboard(cheaper), as no OCing intended
2x4GB RAM sticks to make use of dual channel
Perfect build, with adequate psu to support second videocard later

Second build:
Drop to i5-3470
Very modest motherboard, but still supports crossfire.
Inadequate PSU, will have to change later when adding second card.

So both build quite similar after proposed changes, i guess it comes down to which videocard you trust more.

in the second build i don't mind upgrading psu later because the performance of the 7970 is better than the gtx 760.also do i need a better motherboard and if i crossfire is there going to be much difference in performance?

If you are hardcore graphics crazy gamer, you should crossfire right away. But, if it's just a thought for future and you renew PC several years, then you don't need at all to xfire. Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition should serve you well enough until it's time to buy new PC in few years. And by then new videocards will be out.

so could the second build last 4-5 years?

3 yrs easy. After that, not possible to predict what technologies and games will require. But come on it's high end videocard, plus ghx edition which means you can overclock it, so i'd say you're fine. To give you perspective, next card after this, costs twice more.

i just realized i made a mistake,it isn't the ghz edition...is it going to make any huge difference?

thanks for the help.After some research i think i will most likely go for the first build because the performance difference is only 7% and i think it's not worth 120$ more.i have the sli option in the future too..
