Hello Good people,
I am confused between the three cards below for my upgrade from MSI 2070 Armor 8Gb which died recently.

I've these options with prices in my country (converted to USD):

1. Sapphire Nitro+ Radeon RX 7900 GRE OC 16GB: $729
(pulse and pure are available but I would prefer nitro+ for better temps)

2. Gigabyte 4070 Super Gaming OC 12GB: $810
(do not prefer ventus, windforce or eagle like low end cards)

3. ASRock RX 7900 XT Phantom Gaming OC 20GB: $884 (only model available)

I saw a lot of comparisons & it comes down to 4GB extra VRAM on GRE or more fps + better visuals with Upscaling with DLSS on the 4070 Super. The raw raster performance on both is almost identical.
And for 7900xt, it is not as power efficient as the other two.

I'll be playing at 1440p 164hz IPS panel & games would be fps like valorant, RPG like Cyberpunk, Far cry, ACreed, RDR2 etc.

CPU upgrade would be a 5700X3D from current 2700X, with 32Gb 3200 MHz CL16 RAM.

Which card do you think would be a better choice here?

Hey there,

For the most part I'd go with the 7900XT, if the price difference was acceptable to you. It is much stronger in raster, and not so far behind in RT effects than the nVidia card.

The 7900XT is far superior at higher res than either of the other two.

If for gaming, it really is a no-brainer. The 7900XT all the way. The extra vram allows much higher fidelity at higher res.

the 3 are similar in core & memory speeds though RTX 4070 Super models are faster using the GDDR6X VRAM.

the RX 7900XT having the extra available VRAM can also help in some games and more going into the future.
more fps + better visuals with Upscaling with DLSS on the 4070 Super
AMD also has their own FSR tech which accomplishes the same thing in games.
not as many titles include the option, but there are many mods for those games out there to allow it's use

Which card do you think would be a better choice here?
if money is an issue, get the RX 7900 GRE.
if not, go for the RX 7900 XT

if money is an issue and it were me, i'd save a bit more and get an even higher end RTX 4000 series.
