The OS does indeed matter when the drivers for one are vastly superior to the other (ATi's drivers have sucked for a long, long time, and AMD is continuing the trend, while nVidia has decent-to-good drivers).

For Linux gaming/media benchmarks and reviews, Phoronix is an indispensable resource

I agree with you. The GT240 will perform a bit better. However, the GT 240, just a DX10 card, is not future-proof.
 

Low end cards like these are not suited to take advantage of most of the worthwhile features of DX11 like tessellation. It's nice to have still but just not a big deal IMO and certainly nowhere near as important as the performance difference between the two cards in question.

thanks for all the replies your guys.

im most likely gonna use to run my older games and not anything new. and what do i mean by old, sins of a solar empire, empire earth II, rome total war. stuff like that.


as far as overclocking goes, which one does that better. lol
