I just built a new PC for gaming and installed all the programs which came with a few of the components. I suspect some of them might be unnecessary or use system resources in the background which is bad for gaming. Which can I get rid of or get a better free program which does the same thing?

All can safely be set to not run on boot. Glary Utilities can easily help you access the programs which launch on boot and disable them. Or, from the run command type in msconfig, go to startup, untick all you want to disable, click apply and restart.
