Hi, im looking for make an upgrade of my old pc for play age of empires 3 DE and age of empires 4.
The options are

I5 10400f + GIGABYTE H410M S2H V2 + 16gb (8gbx2) ram 2666 patriot

I5 9600k + MSI B365M PRO-VH + 16gb (8gbx2) ram 2666 patriot

Ryzen 5 1600 + msi b350 tomahawk + ram which one????

The options are ordered from expensive to cheaper. The ryzen its used but i have to buy new rams so thats why its almost the same price of the other ones.
My idea its no make OC (cpu and ram) so thats why choose a b365 for the k
I know that the first one its more future proof but i want to expend as little as possible.

This combo for now it will go with a 1030. So my next upgrade i will be the vga, 1650 may be?

Thanks.

What is the make/model of the parts you have now?
Where will you shop?

You are essentially looking at, presumably processor upgrades.
Games such as AOE tend to depend more on single thread performance than the number of threads available.
I5-10400F has 12 threads and a passmark rating of 12592/2588
The last number is the single thread performance.
I5-9600K has 6 threads and 10914/2809
Really comparable since it is unlikely that you could effectively use more than 4-6 threads anyway.
I might exclude Ryzen 5 1600. 12 threads and a rating of 12357/2081
And, for best performance, ryzen needs fast ram.

You might do better with a 8 thread I3-10100 with a rating of 8829/2637
Any lga1200 motherboard will do.
2666 ram is fine.
Here is a gaming review of the i3-10100:

Im from Argentina so thats why no write the prices.
My actual pc its a celeron 1620, asus h61m k and 8gb (4gbx2) ddr3 1600 and the 1030. The age 3 DE now im getting 15/30fps on low low.
The other option its to change only the cpu for a 3570 or 3770k (almost the same price of the cpu i put)

Some games are cpu limited, and some are graphics limited.
Try this simple test:
Run YOUR games, but lower your resolution and eye candy.
This makes the graphics card loaf a bit.
If your FPS increases, it indicates that your cpu is strong enough to drive a better graphics configuration.
If your FPS stays the same, you are likely more cpu limited.

Your celeron 1620 has only 2 threads which will not start some games.
You really need 4-6 threads.
It has a passmark rating of 1372 and a single thread rating of 1377.
The i5-3570 option gives 4 threads and a rating of 6371/2073
The i7-3770K gives 8 threads and a rating of 6340/2078

If you are looking at a gpu upgrade, the GT1030 is rated at 2641
There are several variants of the GTX1650; the GTX1650ti is rated at 7467; a nice upgrade if you need it.

Thanks. The problem with the 3rd gen cpus its that has the same price that the i3 10100. So if a i buy a 3570k i has to spend only that, but if i go with the others platforms i had to add the mother and rams to the budget. So if only play age 3 and 4 the 3rd gen its enough and save money for vga or with the others gens it will be needed to play with more fps.

If you are now using integrated graphics, I suspect that a gpu upgrade could benefit you more than the same amount spent on a cpu upgrade.
Did you do my simple test? What was the result?

Here is another back handed test:
Limit your cpu, in windows power management, limit the maximum cpu% to something like 70%.
Go to control panel/power options/change plan settings/change advanced power settings/processor power management/maximum processor state/
This will simulate what a lack of cpu power will do.
Conversely what a 30% improvement in core speed might do.

Ultimately, you likely need both a cpu and a graphics upgrade for satisfactory results.
If you can not do both now, pick what you think will be more effective for the amount spent.
