So i'm new to this and currently seeking a desktop for my needs, mostly for vector animation and 3d rendering such as programs Inkscape and Blender. Currently I have my eyes Hp p7-1380t (http://www.shopping.hp.com/en_US/home-office/-/products/Desktops/HP-Pavilion/A7F22AV;pgid=c7twGfjc0ptSRpIq7ZUcoGXQ0000NcnVvnYN;sid=vdPJYoX8c8OBZtQdk9Nh6l3ztwhEybHgeIY--xJUtwhEyeX6O1IXCylh?HP-Pavilion-p7-1380t-Desktop-PC) and CYBERPOWERPC Gamer Xtreme GXi440 (http://www.overstock.com/Electronics/CYBERPOWERPC-Gamer-Xtreme-GXi440-Intel-i5-3.2GHz-Gaming-Computer/7401898/product.html?cid=202290&kid=9553000357392&track=pspla&ef_id=Ud4qcQAABG7u9T0z:20130713070034:s).
As far as price goes, I would prefer no more than $1,100 but aiming below $1000 would be good if possible; like $700 or 800.
-My ideal desktop would be 3rd gen intel i5-3470 and up(dunno about the motherboard),
-nvidia gtx 660 ti 2gb, 1tb sata hd ( would want a secondary hd slot for future upgrade),
-16 gb ram and up,
-wifi card,
-heatsink and cooling fan(clueless about that and extra fan),
-500 power supply unit and up,
-windows 7 home premium 64 bit op system,
-2 yr protection plan and up,
-2 x PCI Express x16,
-2 x PCI( if possible),
-2x 2.0 & 3.0 usb ports,
-regular standard optical drive
No matter which one i choose ill have to upgrade it and the price gives me the stink eye so im open for any advice to help me look for what i need. My method of payment will be through credit card so ill get everything eventually less than too months. sorry for long post. Also would like to hear suggestions for build your desktop, thank you for your time.

yeah. if you want a good rig, forget pre-builts. its a trap setup for people who dont know how to build a pc when its just slapping screws and slotting things together

-the fx8320 is a good chip for a lower priced workstation. the hyper 212 evo should allow a pretty decent overclock. the 3470 does not come close in workstation tasks
-included a SSD for quicker access for just about everything
-used a gtx 660 instead. not too much of a difference between the cards if you arent gaming and even if you are gaming, its not a massive difference

yea, your right dead on, i followed your build up and changed it a lil bit but would also like to know if its 100% compatible ( my link is here http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1h95s). ill add more memory later and other stuff. the only work for me to do left is to compare prices from different sites. Also, i notice it will cost more with buying insurance with different services for each item and would like to know if theres an easier way to get insurance for multiple items rather than to buy one by one and know if its worth it or not depending on the item. i know most items come with a warranty itself but dont know the full coverage compared to the insurance you have to buy. thx for your help again

-you are to buy memory in a set of 2 never in a single stick. in the future when you get to upgrading the ram, the revision might be different which will cause them to be incompatable
-do not buy insurance. its a waste of time. things will always start to break after the longest offered warranty. generally its a scam
-without the SSD, your system is pretty slow. you will never want to use a hard drive after using a SSD
-you are better off with a 760 if you want a GPU upgrade. make sure you have the 16gb of ram and the SSD before hand however as they make a bigger difference
-if you want a case upgrade, get the fractal arc midi r2 for 79.99. make sure you have the ram and the SSD like i said before

sorry for late reply, so i updated my build and followed everything you told me except for the case.heres the link http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1hylJ. Ill post pics once its complete and thanks a bunch for helping a noob out. thx

you still need to fix up the ram. in the case that they are from different revisions, you are left with a incompatable set

i dont see any reason to getting the 400R. it has less cabling room, it uses cheaper steel, it is less easier to work with, and it costs more all at the same time

Sorry, I don't quite understand what you are saying with ram memory, please explain.also, I now want to be under $700 budget so if you can give me any tips or advice that would be cool. Looking for a decent upgradeable PC for future use.i have zero experience with this obviously and don't know what doing.i don't even know the process of installing parts and running tests on them to make sure its working good.this gets confusing everytime I think I know what's works with what but just keep getting lost

you need lots of memory if you are going to do some editing. what you are using it for requires it. if you dont have the needed amount of memory, your performance is effectively crap

if you want it at 700 dollars, you will have to cut the SSD (which makes a huge difference in speed), reduce the graphics card (which will lower your rendering speeds and gaming performance if you play games), and you will have to use a cheaper case and cheaper motherboard

Ya, I just purchased what you recommended to me.just waiting for the rest of the parts to come and will post pics once done set up. I have one question though, as regarding to windows 7 home premium 64 bit op system....is getting the full version better and worth it rather than getting oem? I heard some bad reviews from oem with flaky license user agreement and
Getting Dell version rather than hp. I have seen downloadable windows 7 but it sounds too good to be true. Any recommendations for trusted sites with legit windows 7 op system?
Thnx again

ok, but i went through some threads about the capacity with win 7 home pre 64 bit oem and saw that others were unfortunate to unsuccessfully install 16gb of ram. complaining to just stick with win 7 pro 64 bit instead of getting ripped off with home premium and with phony licenses lasting for a period of a time, then it will give you an error. and need to know how to tell the difference from a genuine and fake win 7 op system. what company's are affiliated with microsoft and where can i purchased it online?

sorry for late reply been really busy with life, Thanks a bunch TheBigTroll for everything.you helped me allot and gave a better understanding of the pc.I'll post the results later .thx again thebigtroll
