Question Which one is better, 4GB RAM + 4GB RAM or 4GB + 8GB RAM?

So, Which one, 4GB RAM+4GB RAM or 4GB+8GB RAM?
I have an Adata DDR4 4G CL17 2400 SO-DIMM 1.2V on my Acer 475g laptop. CPU is corei3 6006u with 32G ram support on max 2133 MHz frequency . First of all guys, 8 GB Dual channel RAM is Better Than 12GB Single channel? I think if I use a 8GB and a 4GB , I can't get Dual. Right? How can I get dual channel support? should I buy exactly the same Ram which is on my laptop ? Can I use a 2666 ram For Dual Channel? I couldn't find 2400 or 2133 in my area ..

4+4 = 8Gb in dual channel.
4+8 = first 4Gb of the 8Gb stick will dual channel with the 4Gb stick. This will see usage First. If the use exceeds that 8Gb, the remaining 4Gb of that stick will be used in single channel mode.

The 12Gb will either be the same as the 8Gb in performance, or faster, depending on usage. If using 10Gb, you Will get @ 3Gb shunted to storage by pagefile, which is somewhat slower than ram in single channel mode. If only using 6Gb, they will be the same, both in dual channel and greater than the use.

Right. Ddr4 defaults to 2133MHz. A cpu can raise that, if the memory has the jedec tables for it, so some pc's the memory can default to 2400MHz or 2666MHz etc. If the memory can do those speeds.

So if you add 3200, you'll get 2133MHz. Only by setting XMP will that raise the speeds above default.

No Problem So far,,

This Part, I don't get it if I be honest.. could you please explain more?
 
4GB+8GB is better because it's not single channel, but Flex-memory-technology. That means it's 8GB in dual-channel and 4GB in single-channel.

That's provided it's stable and runs at the same speed as the 4GB+4GB
4+4 bought as an 8GB set.
Or 8+8.

Mixing RAM is always a crapshoot.

so let me see if I get this right :

if I buy a 8Gb stick and add to my 4Gb ,to achieve the best performance, I should put the 4Gb on dimm 0 and the 8Gb on dimm 1 (My laptop has 2 Ram Slot).. by Flex-memory-technology I now have a 8 Gb(4Gb of dimm 0 + 4Gb of of dimm 1) on Dual channel and a the rest of 4Gb works on single channel..


1- So if my laptop needs 8Gb or less of ram for working, it uses my 8Gb dual and if needs more, it uses Both 8Gb Dual and 4Gb single together, Right?

2- Since my CPU works on max 2133Mhz frequency, No matter what Ram I Buy With what frequency , My laptop will always work on 2133Mhz, If the frequency of the newly purchased ram is not lower than 2133Mhz, Right?
