If you actually mean LAN gaming then you might as well buy a cheap switch since that is the only part of the router your are using.
If you are connecting them to the internet then the question is even harder. On these older models the manufactures are being a huge pain. It may have the same name on the box but internally they make lots of changes. The tplink for example has at least 10 different hardware versions.
This means you can not even compare the performance numbers.
If I had to pick I would pick the tplink just because they made hardware updates just last year where the netgear is likely 5 years ago.
