With any component you buy, there's always a chance that you might get a lemon. Hopefully you won't but if you're really worried about that, just make sure you buy a brand new one, so you can have it replaced if found deffective within the warranty period. That should give you a little peace of mind.

By the way, make sure that you take note of the lenght of both GPUs. The Gigabyte (312mm) one is longer than the EVGA(241.3mm) one. It might not fit your case.

Okay so im new to the oc the gpu these reviews on the link are a over my head they all said when the were oc they were only slightly better on the end some voltage limits and core limits due to manafacturer i was really interested in the first one mainly because they said it was a custom card what do they mean by that?

Both of those are custom cards. EVGA won't allow you to increase the voltage beyond what Nvidia specified for the GTX 970, but Gigabyte customized their card to give a little increase in voltage limit to make it a bit more stable (I guess) and to allow better OC.
