Hi all out there!
I have a question about which 40gb harddrive I shall choose.
I go this 4 on my mind:

- Ibm DeskStar 60GXP 40GB
- Maxtor DiamondMax 60+ 40GB
- Quantum Fireball Plus AS 40GB
- Western digital Caviar WD400BB 40GB

Other suggestion are very welcome!

Yeah, the IBM Deskstar's have the best performance, and also run really quiet. They will generally cost you a little more, but that's the way it always goes...

dont forget you can get the so called 'best hard drive' out there but its really dependent on the system u put it in.... my and my friend have the same WD that you have listed but I can copy HD to HD must faster than him because my system is just overall better than his...just a pointer... I like the WD its cheaper and although there are other 40 gigs that are faster I wouldn't pay much more for something to run seconds or even a minute or two faster...but thats just my opinion

Why would you get a 75gxp??? I had seagate barracuda's in my old machine, but in the new one I'm putting in the 60gxp ibm deskstar. If you don't mind spending a little more get the deskstar. I'm not sure how much a maxtor or quantum costs though.
