Which part of the cpu is damaged due to high current

Probably the area of the processor that was performing the calculations at the time of the over current/voltage spike? I suppose it depends on the architecture of the processor itself (i.e. what processor do you have and what socket is it)? Oh wait, I think I know what you mean, I'm thinking it's the L3 cache or the general purpose registers that are damaged during, say, overclocking or voltage spike.
