maybe its a dumb question but what part of my pc would give me better audio Sound Blaster Z or my motherboard ASUS Prime Z490-A for my Beyerdynamic DT 990 PRO 250OHM

If you are in possession of the discrete sound card, I'd ask you to try them both out, but please be wary that the Creative audio solution has been known to suffer with the latest update from Windows 10. Speaking of which, I'd stick with the audio on the motherboard unless you were looking at a proper sound card, not something from Creative...

The on-board audio, at least on paper, has better specs than the Sound Blaster Z. Not to mention the Sound Blaster Z is an old card, you'd be better serviced (if you went this route anyway) with an AE-5 or AE-7.

But bottom line, you don't need a sound card. If anything, a USB based DAC like the Schiit Fulla would be a better buy unless you're after software features.

I had that thingy since 2018 or 2017 lmao so I should throw it out and stick with the motherboard?
