Which PC should I choose

Hey guys,

After researching for 2 weeks about PC's, i think i can now finally ask a question without being embarrassing lol. Basically I have $1500 to spend on a new PC. I only play Arma 3 really, and ill pop in a game like GTA V or Need for speed to play now and again. It will also be used for Productivity/ general browsing. I understand some might say its overkill, but Ill basically like the system to last a very long time (5 years+ or preferably until something stops working) without upgrading. Also after looking at other PC's it will be awesome to have a good looking one as well.

Current System
i7 3770
8GB Ram
AMD Radeon 7770HD
HDD and SSD (Ill be keeping both for this new build)
Dell 1680x1050 20.5'' Monitor

Im considering these:
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/GXbnJV ... $1550, 1440p monitor
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/wrMGRG ..$1470, 1440p monitor
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/HmC2NN ..$1300, 1080p monitor
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/HmC2NN ..$1280, 1080p monitor GTX 1060

Which one should I go with? If i could save money from it, that will be great as i could probably upgrade my phone as well. And with the monitors, is 1440p worth it over 1080p? Thought it will be a good idea to have a good looking display to have for a while. As i read that Arma 3 runs on 1 core only, thats the reason I chose the i7. I also plan to overclock. Went with the 1070 over the 1060 as I felt it will last a very long time at 1080p.

Sorry for the lengthy post. Any help/info/changes are more than welcome. If I said something wrong, my apologies im still learning.

Putting in a new gpu in your current system will be more than enough. That i7 is still quite good today.
Can you tell me your psu in the current system? The thing that is holding your current pc back is the really back gpu. Also arma uses 4cores.

Agreed. Add a 1070 and replace the 8GB of RAM with a 16GB kit. Save the 8GB for troubleshooting. Considering your budget I would add a 1080 instead. I wouldn't get too happy and buy the 1080ti. If you go this route you may be able to purchase a better TV. 27" 1440p 144Hz with G-Sync? Yes please.

A 1080 is quite overkill for just 1080p gaming and even 1440p.

27" 1440p 144Hz with G-Sync?

That is what I suggested. Yes, it's too much for 1080p 60Hz gaming. With the aforementioned monitor specs. a 1080 is not too much.

GTX1060 then... 1070 would be pushing it a little. Though no reason you couldn't pick up a new power supply while you were at it.

I've not personally had any problems with the TR2. Best Buy carries them, so they end up in a lot of acquaintance's desktops as quick fixes. But I tend to put them in low load computers or ones that only see occasional use, not 'real' gaming PCs.

GTX1060 6GB will handle 1080p 60Hz
GTX1070 8GB will handle 1440p 60Hz
GTX1080 8GB will handle 1440p ~90-100FPS on high end titles, and easily reach 144FPS on many recent titles
GTX1080Ti 11GB will handle 4K 60hz / 3440x1440 @100hz or 2560x1440 @144hz

Alright mate thanks for the information!

I recommend you upgrade to a better unit like the corsair rmx 550w or similar. A gtx 1060/rx 480/580 or a gtx 1070 will be an amazing upgrade + a new monitor.

Many thanks for this idea, ill consider it
