Which PCI Slot for GTX970

I just got msi gtx970 gaming and now i don't know in which PCI slot should i put it?
It fits in first one but it's to close to cpu cooler(noctua nh-d15) is that a problem? And is there any difference if i put it in second slot?

What slot does the motherboard recommend/require? It's usually mentioned in the motherboards manual.

Can't really tell if there is a difference if it is not known what motherboard you have. Usually the slot closest to cpu is the best slot to put it in. Check your motherboard manual to see if there is a difference between the first and second pci-e slot.

No put wherever you want it doesn't make difference but make sure they are pcie 2or 3

You can put it in the PCIEX16_2 slot, it will work at full speed.

When using a single card the manual(page 1-22) recommends putting it into the top slot. There looks like plenty of room, even for a card with a backplate.

You'll be fine, I have a similar cpu cooler and my top card sits closer to it than yours will. As long as it not actually touching there is no problem.
