Question Which PCIE Cable? 6+2 pin or 8 pin??

Hi Guys,

My gpu is a gigabyte 1070 g1 gaming which has a 8 pin slot. I was wondering for my gpu should I use a 6+2 pin pcie connector or 8 pin connector since i am planning to get a custom cable done there are two selections i can choose. Can i go with a 8 pin connector?

Both will do the same thing, the 6+2 pin is just more versatile. With an 8pin you can only use it in a GPU that has an 8pin power plug, whereas the 6+2 will let you use it in either a 6 pin or an 8 pin.

Okay so i don't need to specifically get only a 6+2 pin pcie for it? One site says that i should use a 6+2 connector and not the 8 pin.

Every new PSU comes with 6+2 pin now. Just a single 8pin is the old way of doing it.
