I am building a new PC and below specs are for my older build that I want to put together again.

Specs:

------------------------

I have a brand new EVGA 500W and an old EVGA 850W that is used for 8 years. .... I guess we have to cross out the 850W because it has 8 years on it and it could fail.(5 years warranty)

I did the online calculators, some say I need below 500W some say above 500W ....

Now PSUs are kind of cheap these days, do you recommend buying a higher wattage brand new PSU ? if so, what wattage ? is 650W enough ?

or should I just use the 500W one ?

Start here:

Do not go low budget (cheap) on the PSU. Stay with known, well reviewed makes and models.

Use the calculators. If a component provdes as wattage range then use the high end wattage.

I use recommended PSU wattage for GPU's. Likely a bit high but sooner or later the wattage will be needed.

Think ahead to when and how the PSU may used in the future: another build, swap in for testing, etc..

And only use the cables that come with any given PSU.

Your new PSU is on the limit. It might be just enough but i don't know how much the 1080 might draw in short bursts. You might experience issues if the PSU doesn't deliver enough power, esp. if you intend to do some OC.

Why not go for a 700-750 PSU? Even 850 gives you more options for a possible GPU upgrade. Money is the obvious answer but with the prices of PSUs going up, i would think about investing in a long term PSU. Not just for a GPU upgrade but a possible new PC upgrade.

edit - Maybe a beQuiet! Pure Power M 12 850, or a Straight Power unit. As long as it's worth the money.

I don't want to spend too much money on these older builds as I am doing a new build (14900K)

Is 650W enough for the build in the OP ?

Is my 500W PSU enough for i5-6600K (OC) + GTX 1070 FE(some OC)

It's called counting calories. Get as close to total power (watts) consumption as possible..

there is another build (6600K + 1070 FE) ... i will use the 500W with that build... I am decommissioning the EVGA 850 that I am currently using coz its been used for 8 years...

EVGA 700 GD is Tier C and people say it is noisy ....

CX650 is quiet and is Tier C too.
The PSU tier list is general advice. Good advice but not the ultimate authority. What people say is neither here nor there. I esp. wouldn't trust something subjective and room-specific as noise levels.

You can read some more detailed reviews of Corsair PSUs here: https://hwbusters.com/best_picks/best-corsair-psu-picks/

You're forced by your budget to pick between low end units. You will have to compromise on something, whether it's noise or reliability, etc.
I bought a SeaSonic G12 recently for an older 3750K computer, and it surprised me by just how un-rubbish it was. I expected less at that price point but it was a decent semi-modular unit. I would say it's reasonably quiet. It is NOT silent. But it's not too noisy. If my budget was unlimited i would definetly not buy that PSU. I would want something completely silent, but that silence is a premium that has to be paid for.
