Which processor for a gaming/3D modeling computer?

I am relatively new to the whole idea of building a PC. I have done a little research but I was wondering which processor you guys would recommend for a high end gaming and 3D modeling computer. I will mostly be using Revit and 3ds max. Looking at an i7 but i don't know which exact model. That's where I need some help.

Price is not really a huge concern, obviously the cheaper the better but it needs to run smoothly. Thanks for the help in advance.

This is overkill if OP doesn't intend to do intense 3D modeling and editing. If he's planning to do minor modeling/editing & gaming 4770k is plenty. 2011 socket items are overpriced and not easy to come by.

According to OP, he said High-End 3D and Gaming. Any 115X socket is not "High-end" by definition. Actually 2011 Processors offer great performance and upgradability as well as being available in many places.
