I am looking to build a new pc. Will be used mainly for heavy Autocad work and light gaming. Not looking to install a graphic card right now.

I have a 650W PSU, 500gb SSD and 6tb HDD which I will be using.

Should I go for i5 12400 or something from AMD?

Also pls suggest a suitable MOBO along with it.

Thanks in advance.

If your not bothering with a dedicated GPU right now then I would go with an AMD Ryzen 5600G or 5700G and an MSI Mag B550 Tomahawk with 32GB of Corsair Vengeance 3600Mhz RAM. That brings you to $422 on Newegg. You might also want a CPU cooler to go with it if you don't already have one that fits AM4. The included ones aren't the best if your going to be running very intensive software. Something like the ARCTIC Freezer 34 for $40 would do the trick nicely.

The AMD integrated GPU's are significantly more capable than Intel UHD graphics available in Intel's desktop CPU's.

Bare in mind any integrated GPU is going to be limited in capability for gaming. However some light gaming is possible on a 5600G. I do a little bit of light gaming on an Nvidia MX150 which is not that dissimilar to AMD's integrated GPU's.

The Intel IGPU has benefits for Adobe software but for your use case I think your better off with AMD.

For IGP light gaming, you want either a 5600g or 5700g. Intel's IGP is terrible, in this regard. Personally, I would spend slightly more and get an R5 5600, motherboard, and maybe a 6500xt. Not a great GPU, but better than integrated, and autocad is not a well threaded program, so I highly doubt you would utilize all the cores/threads, of a Ryzen 7.
