or should i get a completly different psu, this will eventually be used for a pc with a 1080ti and some sort of high end cpu, there are only two sites ill buy from please dont ask why, my limit is $130 and heres the two sites, scorptec.com.au

Putting aside the idea of evaluating power supplies by one sample, rather than by the quality of the platform, how do you know it's one of the new ones? The old green ones had a 750 as well and the poster didn't specify which one he had. Those olds ones are *still* all over the place in the ecosystem, if less common t han before.
 


Well being charred is pretty bad taking into account they didn't put a lot of stress on it with that machine. 😉

Could have been worse like causing a fire etc.

More than enough for me to not recommend their budget models personally. 😉
 


I mean, that post specifically says its a CX750. Which is an entirely different platform than the CXm series. The old CX units had poor QC and cheap caps, the CXm series is far better.
