[SOLVED] Which PSU should I buy? I have three options.

Solution
I found a 500-watt Corsair PSU and a 650-watt Thermaltake PSU and I thought that I should buy the 650 one but everyone on Tom's hardware said that I should buy the 500 one, why?
Isn't wattage the most important thing in a PSU?

No, even the brand can have good and bad ones. a "500w" Corsair doesn't tell me enough.

if that is all you can chose from, the thermaltake is an easy win

though they are all bottom of the barrel, junk units.

do note that the thermaltake is actually only a 550w unit, though i would not push that theory very hard at all.

look for better options in any case, cause none of these are really worth any amount of money

i can't buy any other PSU I only have these three option because payment has already been made and are they really that bad?
I have bought 550 watt local PSU before and I have used an Rx 480 on that and it worked fine even though that was a local PSU, so I thought these will be better than those local PSUs?

These are horrifying.

Depends on what the use is. If this is a simple office PC without a GPU, the Thermaltake is probably OK-ish.

None of the above.

Why only these 3 options?

The Thermaltake is the least likely to light your house on fire, but only just. You really should just get something else.

You can run across traffic 100 times and never get hit by a car, does that mean its a good idea?

All are bad. The Thermaltake is the least bad. I wouldn't use it, if you can get your money back then that would be best. If not then use the Thermaltake at your own risk.

You can't observe "working fine." You can only observe "the PC turns on." Your previous junky PSU may have already shortened the lifespan of your RX 480 and your other components. I'm a little confused how the money is already gone if you haven't picked a product; I've never seen commerce work like that before.

And yes, they're really that bad. The Thermaltake may be better if we're ranking degrees of garbage. But it's something I would never use with an RX 480.

Isn't wattage the most important thing in a PSU?

First, determine the wattage you require.
Here is a handy chart for that:
http://www.realhardtechx.com/index_archivos/Page362.htm
I have no problem overprovisioning a PSU a bit. Say by 20%.
It will allow for a stronger future graphics card upgrade.
It will run cooler, quieter, and more efficiently in the middle third of it's range.
A PSU will only use the wattage demanded of it, regardless of it's max capability.

Do NOT skimp on quality and buy a cheap psu.
A cheap PSU will be made of substandard components. It will not have safety and overload protections.
The danger is if it fails under load, it can destroy anything it is connected to.
It will deliver advertised power only at room temperatures, not at higher temperatures found when installed in a case.
The wattage will be delivered on the 3 and 5v rails, not on the 12v rails where modern parts
like the CPU and Graphics cards need it. What power is delivered may fluctuate and cause instability
issues that are hard to diagnose.
The fan will need to spin up higher to cool it, making it noisy.
A cheap PSU can become very expensive.

Do not buy one.

Consider a quality psu as a long term investment.
Look for a quality unit with a 7 to 10 year warranty.

Surely an eBay-type site isn't the only place to buy computer parts in Pakistan.

I take it you guys are still upset with India?

You know @TH4WARRIORz you keep coming back to the forum with the very same question (*) several times and expecting to get different answer then last time. You won't. It's just not possible.

* The question being "Can I power my PC with a brick?" Sure you can - if you somehow make the brick generate power. Just don't come back crying when the brick make your rig explode.
