I'm trying to decide which of the two PSUs I already own I should use...
I'm building a new 'daily driver' PC for general home office use - no heavy/specialized use (no gaming, no Handbrake encodes, etc.).
Most likely an i5-13600k with a lower-mid tier Z790 board and an existing 1050 Ti. Maximum expected power needs at 500 watts.
From previous builds, I have two Seasonic PSUs - a Focus GX-650 80+ Gold and a Prime PX-850 80+ Platinum. Both of these are 3 years old (so plenty of life left) with 10-year and 12-year warranties respectively. Both have been very lightly used and are in like-new condition.
My gut tells me the 650 watt unit would be the most efficient choice. The 850 which is very much overkill for my purpose and I doubt the higher efficiency (gold vs platinum) offsets this??
Thanks in advance for any thoughts from the community!!
