Hi all,

I've decided my 650w EVGA is just a bit loud for me, and it seems to hang on to a higher fan speed for too long.

Ideally what I'm looking for is another one in the region of 650w (It's to power a 4670k & 280x both OC) as I like headroom for overclocking and degredation over the years.

I'm looking for a top quality unit ideally (I've read about tiers?) which is gold rated. Also very important is noise, what I'm after is one that can turn the fan off on lower loads (such as web browsing etc),

I've got around £75-£100 to play with but of course less is better! :)

I'm swaying with the evga as it's more watts for less money, but the noise concerns me, it seems like when the fan does kick in it's a monster!

The seasonic is as quiet as it gets you say?

SR-71 Blackbird owns the EVGA Super NOVA 850W G2. Most of the folks here would never recommend EVGA 650W SuperNOVA NEX650G which is probably the one that you currently own. It would be the EVGA Bronze series for budget builds or the G2 series for high end builds.

You could also look into the Antec HCG (High Current Gamer series). I have the HCG 620M and it is whisper quiet. However the 750 and 850W G2 has the eco switch on the back of the power supply. I have the back of the towers facing me to improve airflow since I never use the front panels.

Ok so I get that they both run silent and lower temps.

As far as I see the Seasonic is quieter when the fan does kick in, but offers less watts for more money. I'm still sorely tempted by the EVGA but it's just the fan noise when it does spin which worries me!
