Which PSU under $100

FSP actually makes the Aurum Gold 500. It's 80 Plus Gold certified and has a 5 year warranty. It provides 36 amps on the 12v rail so it can provide 432 watts continuous on the 12v rail. The Aurum line is generally well reviewed.

The Antec HCG 520 is made by Seasonic. It's 80 Plus Bronze certified and has a 5 year warranty. It provides 40 amps on the 12v rail and can provide 480 watts continuous on the 12v rail. Seasonic is generally recognized as one of the best power supply makers if not the best.

The HCG line is probably a bit better overall but it's not as efficient as the 80 Plus Gold rated Aurum.
so i take it you mean $A 100 ?

in that case that's not a lot of money; anyway, you will probably want a 550W PSU, however 650 would be better, and nearly the same money. if you plan to SLI then you will need 800W more or less. mind you i'm keeping a healthy margin here, no need to stress your PSU by always running it at full load.

ANtec, seasonic, corasir, thermaltake, corsair, etc .. all make good PSU. Rosewill makes cheap, decent PSU, especially the high end ones, like 800w.

very quick searching (you might find better deals)

$A 103

Not a problem, ther are some good PSUs that won't break the bank. The HD 6870 is not a power-hungry GPU; it requires a 500W PSU with at least 32A on the 12V rail and two 75w 6-pin PCIe power connectors. I'll list my recommendations in order of preference:
1. Antec HCG 520: http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=15_535&products_id=15135
2. Antec Neo Eco 520: http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=15_535&products_id=16290
3. Antec VP550: http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=15_535&products_id=18877
