Which RAID mode to use?

Interested with Mediasonic HFR2-SU3S2, a 4-bays HDD enclosure, but I'm not familiar with RAID configuration. Here's my question.

Supposed I have 4 HDD. At least 2 were indentical. So I want that 2 to to mirror each other (I use that for main system and work docs, and the other 2 were just normal HDD (just to expend the total storage space).

Which RAID mode should I use and how should I configure it?

Thank You.

He wants it to mirror (security, backup) which would be RAID 1. I don't personally know "RAIDing", and now because of you OP, I need to RAID 0 my SSDs. Thanks.

First - remember that RAID1, RAID5 and RAID10 are NOT meant as a "backup strategy" - these arrays can fail, and you can lose all of your data! (this actually applies to all RAID arrays - I mentioned the 3 above because they are the most popular versions where the drives are mirrored).

RAID0 is a simple striping of drives - drive "A" + drive "B" + drive "C" + drive "D" = one hard drive. No mirroring is done - it just combines the drives.
RAID1 is a simple mirror - two drives that are identical (if not identical, they will give the smallest drive's size).
RAID10 is a combination of RAID0 and RAID1. For this to work properly, the drives should be identical.

RAID5 is a more complex version of RAID10 - it uses parity drives to ensure that the data is secure.

My suggestion - if you must build a RAID array - use the same drives (i.e. WD 1TB Red drives X 4) unless you are using RAID0. In RAID0, you must remember that if any drive fails - you lose everything....so be prepared for that.

I use SyncBack Free to backup drives in my network at home - I have one large drive that backs up all of the computers (5 total) in the home. It runs at 3:00AM daily (when we are asleep), and it works great. It has saved us several times when drives died.

Ok I'm sorry I think there's misunderstanding here.

I said "I need to RAID 0 my SSDs now" in a sarcastic way. Meaning that trying to help him made me think about "RAIDing" them. I know I do not NEED to RAID them. RAID 1 is used for mirroring the content of a disk on another disk. This improves reading performance and reliability.

I've read that article.
I know that I need RAID-1 to do the back up for first 2 HDD. But what a bout the other 2?
If this clear my question,

at the bottom half, there're a few diagrams that clarify how that enclosure behave, and it got me confusing.

OK
Sarcasm does not translate well via text letters....:)
