I have a Vostro 400 motherboard with 2 1gb ram sticks in it. I want to buy 4 more gb for a total of 6gb. I have tried to do this before but the computer would not turn on with the new ram. Please tell me which ram I should get. I would like it to not be so expensive. 50$ is about as much as I'll pay but it would be really nice if it were much cheaper than that. This is the ram I already have in right now. http://imgur.com/a/ggR8c
Thank you in advance!

So I did a little research and fount the following:

The Vostro 400 has a max of 8GB of ram, and the sticks currently in your machine are 2x 1GB DDR2 sticks at 800MHz.

The Motherboard inside only holds four sticks, so you cannot add four more for 6GB unfortunately. Here is what you can do:

If your ok with only having four GB, it will cost you $11, which you can purchase Here.

If need 6-8GB you need to get rid of your exisiting ram and buy a whole new kit of four 2GB modules for $16, which you can purchase Here.

8GB is the max you can hold, and you only have to pay $16 for it.
Good luck my friend!
