Hello I am looking for 12gb of ram for photoshop. Most people say 12gb is too much but the rule of thumb in photoshop is you need 2.5x the amount of ram compared to the size of the file you are working on. We work on large files close to 5gb. So at least 12gb would be needed. What do you suggest to get a 4ghz overclock?

I checked the motherboards site to see the QVL and found these

The G.SKILL ECO Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin seem to be the best deal. Seems like very low voltage and tight timings CL is 7 timings 7-8-7-24-2N 1.35v

Anyway what do you guys say would be best out of these?

Sorry about that not sure why those dont work. Ill list the ram to make it easier

A-DATA Gaming Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model AX3U1600GB2G9-2G

G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-4GBNQ

G.SKILL ECO Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL7D-4GBECO

OCZ Gold 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Low Voltage Desktop Memory Model OCZ3G1600LV6GK

Maybe the low voltage works better for more ram not too sure but ill go read the article.

And Fetal the first ones are 1333 I have g skill ripjaws 1333 4gb sticks now and its making my OC very hard. the second ones 1600 are one of the ones Im looking at

sorry for not listing my hardware. The current pc Im working on is

COOLER MASTER HAF 922
G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 12GB (3 x 4GB)DDR3 1333(Returning these)
CORSAIR CMPSU-750TX 750W
GIGABYTE GA-X58A-UD3R LGA 1366 Intel X58
Galaxy GeForce GTX 470 (Fermi) 1280MB
WD Caviar Black 2TB 7200 RPM
Tuniq Tower 120 Extreme Universal CPU Cooler 120mm

I thought lower rated voltage ram would be better for an OC? As of right now im putting way too much voltage into my oc and its still unstable. i went to stock and decided to get better ram

Yes CS5 is what is being used and my board supports 24gb of ram. 64 bit is being used on the pc and ram usage is set pretty high.

I was actually looking to get 1600 ram not 1333 as I feel it would make the OC smoother.

Thanks for the responses.

P.S. The 2 sets Im most interested in are the G.SKILL ECO Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) and Patriot Viper II Sector 5 4GB (2 x 2GB) both in 1600 Just not sure if patriot is compatible with the mobo.

I wouldn't be getting 4gb i would get 3 sets making it 12gb total. I tried overclocking with my 1333 ram for like 5 days straight. Straight as like I went to bed at 10am every day woke up at 1pm and continued. the only way i was able to get into windows at a 4ghz OC was to jack the qpi/vtt to a hue amount 1.53 and it still wasnt fully stable. most people blamed it on the speed of my ram. Also I have the i7 930 and stock speed is 2.8. i believe it was 2.83 to be exact.

I was going with the 2gb sticks because if I got 4gb sticks at 1600mhz it would be double the price and I dont plan on upgrading past 12gb for some time. I spent 1500 already on my pc and its on a credit card that needs to be paid in full within 1 year so the lower the cost the better. i was looking at those but i think thy are out of my price range. And with the voltage, Since Ill be overclocking I may need to up the voltage and i figured it could take a higher clock at a lower voltage
