My friend and I were comparing two rams my G. Skill. the {G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Desktop Memory Model F3-10666CL9D-16GBXL} and the {G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-1600C9D-16GXM}. I currently have the second (Blue) and he wants the 1st one (Red). They are both the same price but the blue one has faster speeds and timings yet he says the red is better because it is not "overclocked" and overclocking is bad for RAM because 1333 is apparently the stock speed. The blue ram being overclocked is somehow worse than the regular red in his eyes. We both have i5-3570k's. Which one is faster and does it honestly make any difference whatsoever?

Solution
The blue ones are much better. Your friend just wants basic plug and play performance, whereas you want a real boost in performance. Let him install the red ones, you keep the blue ones, and everyone will be very happy. :)

Thank you
