[SOLVED] Which RAM should I get (Imac 8.1, 2.4 GHZ model)

Hello all!
I have an Imac 8.1 (2.4GHz) that desperately needs some more RAM in it (2GB of DDR2 just won't cut it anymore).

What type of RAM should I get to install in this Imac? Is their special Imac RAM and if so, is DDR2 the only RAM it will support? Will it work if I install DDR3 RAM?

Just to confirm, this is part of the older line of Imacs with a disc drive and a black back.

Go to www.crucial.com and use their System Scanner. That will tell you exactly what memory can be used in your computer.

Thank you, but unfortunately Crucial doesn't have what I need. The only problem is that it's saying that it only has 1GB or 2x1GB for sale. Since, I'm already at 2GB that doesn't help. Maybe there is another company with 2x2GB in stock?

I know this model can support 4GB.

That's odd. I looked up your computer on Crucial and it offered 4Gb kits.
