Question Which ram (speed) to choose?

Hey there everyone,

The memory tutorials/how-tos being seemingly outdated, I decided to make this post

I have a Samsung np500r5m-xw2br laptop (brazilian build), and I'm looking to upgrade (either replace existing or add) the ram memory

I can't find more specific info on the website, and CPU-Z / speccy give me motherboard info that's not very helpful. Can you guys help me identify what RAM speed, size and type I should look into?

can I get ram sticks whose speed is higher than the one already in the system? do I get another with the same speed, or do I get a matching set and remove the one that's already there?

Best is to match the existing memory spec. Your laptop supports 2 x 8GB maximum configuration. Since you already have a 8GB stick, best is to add another 8GB stick.
