Hi, i'm looking at building a new pc purely for gaming for the first time and RAM is the last part I need to add to my purchase list and was wondering if you could help with what RAM will be compatible with my build please?

If I understand right I want atleast 3600Mhz DDR4 RAM or above for my build?

Would only like to spend £100 or less on the RAM if possible.

Here's my build

I've seen these two so far but looking on motherboard website and on what speeds the motherboard upports on the MHz part on pcpartpicker I don't think either of them are compatible or maybe they are and i'm just looking at things wrong or maybe you could help with finding some that are better/compatible if they are actually compatible but bad please.

Patriot Viper Steel 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3733 Memory (£87.99 @ Amazon UK)
Patriot Viper 4 Blackout 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3600 Memory (£70.86 @ Ebuyer)

Thankyou.

Ryzen 3xxx CPUs perform best with DDR4 3733mhz ram due to the internal design of these CPUs.
However AMD reccomends 3600mhz ram for best value.

I would look for a 3600mhz CL16 kit. Although most kits should work, it is best to buy a kit on your motherboards QVL, which includes all of the memory kits tested to work with your motherboard.

Memory tested to work with Ryzen 3xxx and X570 Taichi: https://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/X570 Taichi/#MemoryMS

I dont recommend going over 3200mhz. Its not going to be possible to run the ram over 2666mhz without upping the voltage. Its harmful for your system to go that high and will not be worth it.
If you had an RTX gpu and i9 cpu it could be helpful to have 3600mhz ram.

Gskill NEO is made for Ryzen and what I’d recommend. Also, you can save money getting an intel 660p which is plenty fast and very dependable. Use that on a 2060 super.

I was planning to upgrade my gpu when i can afford a 144hz 1440p g-sync monitor but untill then i was just keeping my 1660ti from my current old build. The G.Skill Trident Z Neo 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3600 Memory arn't listed on the motherboards memort qvl thing though is it still ok to go with them and the cas latency on them is 18 not 16, does that not matter?

And in regards to the storage I was given to understand I want a 500gb ssd for my OS and then another 1tb or above ssd for games?

Thanks so much for all these quick replies and help I really appreciate it!

The board is rated up to 4666mhz oc. The sweet spot for this series of Ryzen cpu is 3733mhz. He will be fine.

The patriot will be better at CAS 17. I don’t see a reason to get 2 different drives unless you plan on reinstalling windows a lot.

I won't be doing any manual overclocking, new to pc building so wouldn't trust myself, if there is an option to like enable an automatic overclock i'd do that. on the memory qvl thing it doesn't even list any patriot rams being supported at 3600 or 3733mhz

Oh ok it's just I was given to understand most people have 2 ssds, one purely for windows for quick boot times, the other just for games for quick loading times.

And so out of all these ram options that have been suggested then which is the best one to go with?

Thanks everyone to all the replies. So out of all the ram that's been listed on this topic which is the best one to go for that is definitely compatible with my CPU and motherboard

You can su pport between 2133- 4666. Most rams reviews will tell you that they do their job, what you want to look for is how many people have bought it, and see the ratings based on that. Ideally it comes down to what you truly think is the sweet spot for you for your price range.

Thanks alot everyone the c16 or c18 one or doesn''t it matter? I also have a final question regarding wether to use a single 2tb ssd for everything or 3 ssds, one at 250 for os, another at 250 for drivers, storage etc then the last one at 1tb for games. Is it ok to ask that hear or should i go make a new post on the storage section
