Which resolution for watching videos?

I have a 17" gigabyte laptop with a max resolution of 1600 x 900.
When watching youtube which is the max resolution i should watch at 1080p or 720p?
Will i see a difference between them?

Yes it would make a difference because your display resolution is between 720p and 1080p ie 900p. So watching 1080 will be much more sharper. This is considering that the max resolution is actually the number of pixels in the screen. For some manufacturers it may not be the case. Any way try playing both. Please use the same video in different resolution
