this is 16:9 and 4:3. both have different aspect ratio. did you asking about which res to use on the same monitor or selecting which monitor to get?

In some respects 1366x768 is better for games because you have a wider field of view. This is especially the case for FPS (1st person shooters) since your natural view is wide.

From a performance standpoint, 1366x768 will give you better performance because there are less pixels for the graphics card to push.
