Which rig would last me at least 5 years??

Im not sure which build to get i need it to last around 5 years through out college (been saving for a long time)
Im going to be studying Computer Science Major/Graphic Design Minor (don't know if that will help you guys)

Already own:
-Keyboard
-Mouse
-1080p (will be using it as 2nd display)
-1TB 7200rpm HDD

Uses:
-Gaming
-internet
-possibly photoshop in the future
-storing and watching HD Movies

Part Preference:
-Intel
-nVidia
-Corsair
-Mostly the stuff i picked

Notes:
-Please don't recommend that i should change my build every 2 years and just answer the question
-The power supply i want isn't available on part picker the one I'm getting is the Platinum edition
-Already bought the fans, case, and HDD

The best (read: only) way to get a rig to last 5 years is to invest 40% to 60% the first year, then 10% to 15% (plus your interest) each year thereafter if your planned cost.

It does answer the question and it's The Right Answer. Five years is forever in computer technology. If you don't want to do the sensible thing and spread out your budget over a longer time period then fine, just don't come back here whining when in a couple of years your $2.5k rig gets beaten by a mainstream system for a fraction of the cost.

Yes I agree but with a few changes 680's for 670's or 7970 Ghz edition cheaper and virtually no difference.

Get a better cooler, the 212 is an amazing value but it does not belong in a highend system like that.

how am i not making any sense?? i want to buy a new computer, the best computer out of both options that would last me around 5 years(I'm running a 4 year old core 2 due and it runs great) i wont be over clocking now since almost every game currently available or at least the ones i want to play run great at stock, i will be over clocking when i have to.... and i don't want to change my build every 2 years or so for maximum performance even if i had unlimited money there as simple as possible

We already told you there no such thing as future proofing anyway the first one is your least wasteful option

Agree with most here. I'd go with the first one but only one 670 or 680 then break your rule and get a faster GPU in 2.5 years...
