Question Which RX 570?

Hi, I'm considering building a new PC for Football Manager 2020 and I've decided on every part except from the GPU. I don't plan on playing any other game and FM isn't graphics intensive at all, so I thought I'd just go for a lowly RX 570. There's two in the Black Friday sales on ebuyer, one is 4gb and the other is 8gb and they are the same price: https://www.ebuyer.com/910791-sapphire-radeon-rx-570-pulse-4gb-graphics-card-11266-67-20g and https://www.ebuyer.com/911027-xfx-radeon-rx-570-xxx-8gb-graphics-card-rx-570p8dfd6

Seems an easy choice but I have read terrible reviews about the XFX card, overheating, literally smoke coming from the GPU itself etc. Would I be safer going for the more reliable Sapphire Pulse? I know it's 4gb vs 8gb but will that even matter for what is not the most powerful of cards you'll find?

What CPU are you using in your build? If it has iGPU then why buy a GPU at all if FM2020 is all you will play. Min requirement is old iGPU tech so newer UHD chipsets should serve the purpose and save you some cash.

Hi, I went for one of the best gaming processors in the i9 9900k.

Overkill yes, but I like my systems to last me a minimum of 5 years like my current i7 3770 (non K stock) has done for almost 7.

I want to run the 3D match engine at the highest settings, but I'm not sure if the UHD 630 would be capable of that? I have an old GT 640 atm and that has 1 star rating, with recommended settings to low. I think the GT 640 is about on a par with UHD 630 if I'm not mistaken?

My mate runs FM19 on his Lenovo work laptop (i5 7200u with HD620). Not sure if he has it at max but it certainly runs ok. Keeps him from doing any work too 😂

Haha, it's very addictive so I'm not surprised! 😂

I'm building it tomorrow so will try without a dedicated GPU first and see how it goes. If it doesn't run too well then I will either keep this RX 580 or will go for the RX 5500 which apparently is out December 12th, and send the RX 580 back. I won't be opening this RX 580 until the RX 5500 hits anyway. Amazon are allowing returns up to 31st December because of the Christmas period which is good, means I don't have to rush my decision.

Worst case, judging by the Hearts badge you are Edinburgh or thereabouts. I am in Fife and have a spare RX570 laying about if you want to try it if the iGPU is a no go. That way you could compare the difference.
Just an extra option.

Not sure if there is much point but I can find the 8gb version of the RX 580 for only £10 more than that Asus Dual model but it's a Powercolor: https://www.scan.co.uk/products/8gb...8lN2wvvUk7z9Ef1v-dAyLWm9W_2_m274aAl_ZEALw_wcB

Now I haven't decided yet if I'm even sticking with the RX 580 but would you say that is a better deal? £10 more for 8gb vs 4gb. I think Powercolor is a cheaper brand and some people are complaining it runs hot.

Nah. You can undervolt these pretty well. I can certainly help with that. Bump this thread when you get set up and I'll walk you through it.

I ended up finding a Zotac GTX 1660 for only £161 which is a great deal in my country. Nvidia cost more than AMD here nearly always and that Zotac model is now going for £208 so I made a good saving, brand new too. I know the 1660 is overkill for my needs but at least it will last me a little longer.
