Which ryzen cpu to buy?

Hey, one quick question.

- Should I buy ryzen 5 1600x or ryzen 5 1600 and OC
- Should I buy ryzen 5 2600x or ryzen 5 2600 and OC

r5 1600 is the same as 1600x if you OC and r5 2600 is the same if you OC..

And r5 2600x is the same as r5 1600x if you OC etc.

I'm really confused. I want to play games at 1080p 60+fps atleast on high. ( gpu: rx 580 8 gb)

Which one should I buy?

Solution
Personally, I would go for the 2600x, for a few bucks more you get a better cooler and out of the box better performance, so no need to overclock at all then.

It's a great pairing with the rx 580.

The cheaper b450 motherboard should come out very soon within a few weeks.

2600x+ rx580 + b450 motherboard will give a very good pc.
Well I remember when it came to the 1st gen ryzen processors there was no reason as to buy the 1600x over the 1600-the 1600x had higher stock frequency but it didn't mean it was binned better so a 1600 would overclock to the same level (depending on silicon lottery) plus the 1600 would come with a VERY decent stock cooler.

I think the same principle applies with the 2600/2600x but AMD has given the spire cooler to the X model and the stealth variant to the 2600 (which really doesn't matter if you use an aftermarket cooler). Unless I am mistaken they should have similar OC capabilities (once again dependent on silicon lottery).

As to which one should you get-I'd probably go for the non X variants. Is there a significant difference in pricing between the 1600 and 2600 from where you'll be purchasing? Do you already have a ryzen motherboard? Do the features on the x470 boards interest you or you just want a decent mobo?
I personally have the 1600 paired with a x370 strix and I got lucky enough to get the rare 8 core 1600 variant (don't know how or why they came about). Performance is amazing and goes great with my 1080 strix. It overclocks to 4ghz @ 1.375v but I have toned it down to 3.85ghz @ 1.275v and it stays frosty.

There is about 30€ between 2600 and 1600 and no i don't have a ryzen mobo yet.
About the x470 mobo, I honestly don't understand a lot about mobos. I just want a mobo thats support 3000 mhz ddr4 ram and won't be problem if i overclock my cpu

But, I also don't want to put my 'great' cpu with a piece of $h!t mobo so I'd like to buy a decent mobo

Well I'd personally spend the extra 30 euros and go for the 2600. Pair it with a nice x470 board and you'll have no compatibility issues from the start. Just be mindful that the 2600 does come with the wraith stealth which is not terrible but not build for OC either.

What about a ryzen 7 1800x?

Tough choice between the 2600 and 1800x-at the time being the 2 extra cores won't make much difference in gaming but in cpu dependant applications such as rendering/video processing it will outperform the 6 core variant. It will really depend on what you want to achieve from it.

As far as motherboards go that one is decent but there are better ones you could get. One thing to consider is that the 1st gen ryzen mobos such as x370/b350 will requires a bios update before they work with a 2nd gen ryzen cpu. That can be troublesome if you dont have access to a compatible cpu or someone to do it for you.

Thanks greeko, I really appreciate it. So should I just wait till september for the new B450 mobo and then buy a cpu? And I want to buy a rx 580 8 gb so i hope they will work fine together?

and last question :/ ; I also need a new 1080p 144 hz monitor with decent colors so what should I buy? ( i have around 250 euros)

Well September is quite a bit to wait-it really depends on you and how long you are willing to wait. You can always look for specials for x470 boards, I'm sure some sales/deals will pop up. A 580 will work just fine with it as well!

As far as monitors go I am not exactly the most experienced person in the field. I am not sure how the pricing goes (I'm guessing you're in Europe) but generally TN panels will be cheaper than the VA/IPS counterparts. They will have better response times but colour reproduction may suffer along with viewing angles. Hopefully someone more experienced can recommend a decent one for your budget.

It depends, keep in mind that a rx580 wont reach 144fps, not on ultra settings atleast. :)
60 fps on high it will do fine in most games. Though since you have an AMD card I advise you to get a Freesync monitor. :)
