My wife has an HP Pavilio x360 14 inches and its way too slow now, I would like to replace the hard disk.

I took a picture of the hard disk and it has a special part number which I suppose is HP manufactured.

My question is:
Can I replace with any nvme disk? or which specifications do I need? I would like to buy a 1TB but as fast as possible, and I suppose I Dont need to buy that specific part number from HP itself.

I wouldn't buy on the basis of alleged speeds from a specifications sheet.

I'd probably try to stick with Crucial, Samsung, or Western Digital. Maybe Solidigm.

But....you can have a bad experience with any and you might not be able to tell the difference between them if they are not outright defective.

I'd probably confirm that the drive has a DRAM cache. Some do not.

No reason to go with PCIe 4.0. A 4.0 drive will run at 3.0 speeds on that laptop.

But no harm done with 4.0; you might have more choices if you include both 3.0 and 4.0 and could later use the 4.0 speed on some other computer.

M.2 drives are 22 wide......that is 22 millimeters.

They come in varying lengths; from I think 30, on up to 80; again that is millimeters.

2280 is 22 wide and 80 long.

a 2230 would be nearly square and is rarely seen.

2280 is the most common size and can hold more NAND.

Nearly 4 times as long as it is wide. Similar to a common stick of chewing gum.

You can also cross check that other number on the drive...PM951 or whatever it is. See the picture in post 4.
