[SOLVED] Which should I get, R7 2700x or R5 3600x?

It would be paired with a 1080Ti with a 1440p monitor. I'm looking at upgrading my PC with one of these options and I would primarily be using it for gaming and heavy video/photo/3d editing. I could currently pick up a new 2700x for $150.

The 2700X should give you more bang for the buck in the video/photo/editing department.

Having said that, both CPUs are very capable of runing a 1080ti at 1440p. The highest you go in resolution/details the more the game stress the GPU, and so the CPU becomes a less important secondary part of the "FPS equation". That doesn't mean you should pair a 1080ti with a pentium, athlon, some core i3, or some ryzen APUs for 1440p.

There should be balance!!!

I'd get the 2700X, it will pair well with that GPU @1440P and the additional cores/threads would be beneficial for your editing plus it's cheaper.
