Which should I get - Trident z or Flare X CL14?

Hi All,

Recently built a Ryzen 7 build. Problem is I can't get my Cosair 3000hz (CL16) memory I recycled from my old PC to run stable @ 2667hz. So i'm using them @ 2133hz 🙁.

Thinking of either the G.Skill Trident Z (non RGB) 3200hz CL14 kit or the Flare X 3200hz CL14. Which should i get? Or are there any better alternatives at CL14?

They both have the same spec, but the Trident is marketed at Intel builds, and the Flare X at AMD. Problem is the Flare X is more expensive (+£10 or £15); and I feel this is marketing. However, I don't want the get the Trident Z if its not going to run at 3200hx

Any help please.

Thanks

Hi

Thanks for the response. Unfortunately a got the tridents and they won't post passed the stock speed (2133) using the xmp profile (on a Asrock x370 Fatality/ac ITX board, paired with a 1700x) Tried manually setting the CL numbers, but no luck. Do you have any manual settings that will work with this board?

Thanks

Changed the main dram voltage only to 1.35 and tried 1.40. All other dram voltages listed in the BIOS kept the same. Not really experienced in overclocking memory. In any event, i've returned the modules. Asrock have listed 16B Patriot Viper 4 3200mhz running at 3200mhz on their verified QVL list. I'm going to order those. In the meantime i'll just run my Cosair 3000mhz kit at 2667mhz. Thanks
