so ive been the forums here on toms as well as pcpartpicker getting alot of feedback for my different build ideas and am very appreciative of the feedback and PMs to you mods and enthusiasts alike.

im trying to figure out which Skylake cpu build is best for me.

im not really a gamer nor do i have the time with my server and networking classes for school. but thats not to say or rule out any future games if i do get time**

virtualization, multitasking, and fast processing are my needs.

my budget is $750 max, id love to get by with the least amount. in every build i try to leave room for future upgrades/proofing

***UPDATE*** SOLVED THANKS TO TURBO!!

There is no scenario in which I would buy either the i5 6600k or i7 6700k.

I really like that little case. The stock cpu cooler would be plenty good enough, but this is one situation where something like a Cooler Master T4, 212, or Cryorig H7 would be good to keep air flowing from front to back.

Solution
If your primary application really is virtualization and multi-tasking, then the i7 would make the most sense.

Unless you plan to overclock though, I would downgrade to a h170 chipset, non-K CPU and use the bundled HSF to save ~$100. Depending on how intense your virtualization and multi-tasking is going to be, you might be able to downgrade to an i5 and save another $100 there without losing all that much performance.

Thank you turbo for your response and 2 very sensible options!

I will go with the latter, the i7 build you reconstructed.. yes that v21 case is nice! donkeyoatie a member on here actually suggested it to me with some of his middle school builds hes done. love the mesh screen, and open concept.

now with a some wiggle room, i think i will add a cooler just to be on the safer side. my temps in my house fluctuate and being in detroit michigan we have hot summers cold winters, and my house has crap windows.

are you not a fan of the be quit shadow rock lps? or is the h7/212 a cheaper and more performing pick?

thank you invalid, yes im going with the i7 as you and turbo suggested, i dont see a reason to honostly overclock in my situation. i want this build to last as long as it can, im sure there are builds that are OC'd well but no matter what, OC'ing regardless of manufactures ok still stresses the system and i dont want that. i dont have alot of money and really had to work to save up enough plus ask my parents to split the other 2/3 cost.

price came out to 730 which im not complaining about, i just have mail in rebates turned off because rarely are they useful to me. just wanna double check this is what you suggested heres a link to the final(hopefully) build: http://pcpartpicker.com/user/boadicea/saved/6gyG3C

thank you turbo 😀

**EDIT SO GLAD I FOUND THAT MOBO ONLY TAKES 2133, forgot to change the speed back since this isnt an OC build lol

went with the 14cas kingston furys for $2 more over the 15cas ripjaw v's.. plus i like the black color better
