Which slot good for pci LAN card

Hi, I have got old SIMM-INT H61(V1) motherboard from simmtronics http://www.simmtronics.com/simtron/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=196:&catid=45:news&Itemid=58

It has got 2 PCIE x1 slots and 1 PCIE x16 slot. I need to install external nic to use pfSense firewall.

Which slot should I choose to install nic into? Are there any performance factors linked to each of them?

For a NIC really the PCIE 1x is what you will probably want. Really the PCIE 16x is better performance because it allows more data through, but I doubt you will ever get enough data coming through to reach the maximum amount capable by PCIE 1x. Please note if you have any other PCIE devices such as a graphics card, the ability of that card could be lowered.
