Fittings to reach the angles you need before using the tubing would be the ideal.
3/4" ID Car radiator tubing is pretty tough stuff. A bit ugly though. I resorted to that when my first go at tubing kept collapsing.
Since then I have always bought PrimoChill PrimoFlex. The thicker you get the ID/OD ratio the tougher it should be against collapsing, but then it will be harder to force it to take on too tight of a curve, putting stress on the components. With barbs, that could lead to slippage over time without some decent clamps.
