I'm planning to build my own system soon. Its main use will be recording and playing back music and sounds (since I'm a musician). Which sound card will be the best for this purpose? My friend suggested a sound blaster, but I'd like to see if there are other good brands. Note: I don't mind spending a lot of money on a sound card, seeing as its really important that I have a good one. Some higher-end models are certainly acceptable.

Thank you in advance for your help!

since your a musician, and u know a bit more about sound then teh average joe, being recommended in getting a soundblaster is ridiculous.

my sugestion would be the high end cards of ASUS sound cards.
i woudnt go for m-audio, since they seem very outdated, and almost cheap in my opinion.
there maybe some soundcards for yamaha. but whatever your choice, do go for the current models when it comes to yamaha.

but not the best for recording tbh. but if its for playback, then i guess so.

Thanks everyone. I'm glad to have some different opinions since my friend seemed to me under the impression that Creative sound blasters are the best in the universe, lolz. I've seen some slightly poor reviews for sound blasters on New Egg. So I'll try an ASUS!
