i just bought the steelseries h wireless headset ,i also own the edifier s550 5.1 ..im wondering if i will get more out of both if i couple them with a soundcard like the xonar dgx...any advice from someone who has such a setup ?

That headphone uses USB and an internal DAC, so it won't benefit at all from a soundcard. The speakers are a different story, though the internal amp probably means that regular outputs will be just fine. You'll have to see just how good the speakers actually are, if audiophile reviews don't say they are at least close to speakers from the high end brands, a soundcard is probably money better spent elsewhere.

thanx for your reply but the headset can be connected via optical so its not just usb...and as for the speakers ...theyre pretty highend in the pc area as most reviews say theyre far superior
to the z5500 from logitech for example

Your speaker system is gorgeous and very capable. A good sound card will give it a better quality signal than onboard stuff. I'm a fan of the proven SoundBlaster products..the card you suggested looks to lack processing to even older generation mid-highend SB stuff...check them out.
Not sure wireless is the best choice for a headset. They are convenient, but they lack music fidelity which means they could be better. Wired will up your perfomance.

Headphones: same difference. Both are digital so no point.
