Hi, I am in a market for a new SSD and was wondering which one should I get. Here are my specs.

Intel i7 6700k
16GB Ram
GTX 1080
Motherboard: msi Z170A Gaming M7

I use this computer mainly for gaming as well as some light programming.
First of all, I was not sure if I should get M.2 card like the Samsung
960 Evo or a sata card like the Samsung 850 EVO. I am planning to spend maximum of 250$ or so. What would you guys suggest ?

Thanks.

Solution
I would just go with M.2 as it will be easier when it comes to location and cable management over SATA. For your budget I'd go with the Crucial MX300.

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

Storage: Crucial MX300 525GB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive ($148.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Total: $148.99

For $20 more then your budget you can get the 1.1 TB version.

In a special case,
the Samsung 960 Evo 250GB (an M.2 SSD) is the same price as the 850 256GB Pro Series but the 960 is over twice as fast. http://ssd.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Samsung-850-Pro-256GB-vs-Samsung-960-Evo-NVMe-PCIe-M2-250GB/2385vsm200373.

The Samsung 960 EVO 500GB (249.99 USD) is 20 USD more than the Samsung 850 Pro 512GB (229.99 USD) but is still over than twice as fast. http://ssd.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Samsung-850-Pro-512GB-vs-Samsung-960-Evo-NVMe-PCIe-M2-500GB/3478vsm204072
