I was planning to upgrade to a SSD since I've been using HDD for years now. First I thought on getting a NVMe SSD since my motherboard can support it (GA-B150M-D3H (rev. 1.0)), but my budget of around $70 (Php3500, converted to Philippine Peso) put me in tight spot and I need at least 500GB for my boot drive. I've research for couple of days now and I was stuck with these choices:
For NVMe
  • Kingston A2000 500GB
  • PNY CS3030 500GB
  • Team Group MP34 512GB
For SATA
  • WD Blue 3D 500GB 2.5"
  • Samsung 860 EVO 2.5"/M.2
  • Samsung 870 EVO 2.5
I have also considered ADATA XPG SX8200 Pro and Crucial MX500 but they're kind of out of my budget.

Solution
For NVME, I would stick to Kingston A2000.

For SATA, stick with either the WD Blue 3D or the Samsung 860 Evo M.2.

I would rather do the NVME.

Please get this from a reputable shop. I am not updated, But PC Express, PC Hub, and Villman are good stores. Slightly higher price, but they give the standard warranty. The warranty is very important.

Lastly, don't skimp. Your data is the most priceless of them all.

I personally have not seen any tangible difference between a sata and nvme ssd. I said before, it may be me… but compared to an hdd the increase is negligible (to me)

the cheapest reasonably good ssd you could find would be the best. I personally prefer either kingston or samsung.
