I'm looking to upgrade my old drive and get new SSD. I have looked at home SSD's and liked this one as its a good price and will fulfill my needs to install OS and some other small programs:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01F9G414U/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE

Now what i am unsure of is, if my motherboard will handle this ssd to its maximum capacity. What i mean is will i be able to get 100% out of this ssd. And if i need to get any extra cables for it? (sata 2, sata 3, or whatever)

My pc specs:

motherboard: Gigabyte H61MA-D2V

cpu: i3 3220
gpu: gtx 660

Thanks :)

Solution
The SSD you chose is a decent budget SSD that will perform well for your intended uses.

However, with your current motherboard you will not use it to it's fullest speed. Your motherboard only supports SATA II 3GB/s while the SSD is meant for SATA III 6Gb/s. That being said, I still think it is a worthy investment even with the interface bottleneck.

Your mobo can handle SATA port up to 3GB/s while your SSD is a SATA 3 at 6GB/s but in terms of gaming and speed that would be few seconds difference so it doesn't really matter. Best choice is to get a mobo with m.2 slot and get a pcie SSD but it will be expensive.
Eveyrthing is fine is what I am trying to say

May I suggest you look at Samsung EVO.
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-inch-Solid-State-Drive/dp/B01AAKZRP2/ref=sr_1_2?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1469630120&sr=1-2&keywords=samsung+240gb+ssd
It seems to be more reliable .
Past that, Samsung has a free ssd migration aid that will copy your current "C" drive to one of their ssd's.
If the contents will not fit, you can remove selected data folders from the migration.

And... 120gb is not large enough today for the "C" drive.
Many things want to go there by default.
See if you can't make that 240gb.

Do not worry about sata II vs III. The big benefit of a ssd is the random access speed of 50x and that is unaffected. You will get 2x HDD sequential speeds vs. 3x. Not a biggie.

As long as it doesn't take 5 minutes to load windows like it does now then its ok. Also ive realised that even after last years reinstall of windows, its starting to slow down again when loading up programs. As long as windows and programs load up fast then im ok with it.. I'm sure even with bottleneck the SSD will still be faster than a regular hard disk right?

Ssd even on sata 2 is a LOT faster than a traditional platter drive.

I would argue that a 120gb drive is not good value at all though.
Formatting takes it down to 110gb, you need to leave 10gb or so for trim management, windows takes up 15gb.
Down to 80gb before you begin.

Hectron X1 Series 240GB SSD 2.5-inch Solid State Drive SATA3 Read 550MB/S Write 470M/S https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01GPEA1QC/ref=cm_sw_r_em_apa_qjnMxb5FG7WEH

Cheap Chinese brand (don't let it put you off) ,getting some very good reviews for the 240gb models.
