so i am getting samsung 830 256 gb for real cheap only $62. its a drive the shopkeeper removed from a dell laptop because customer wanted a 1 tb hdd. so my question is should i buy this ssd or wait and save up some money and buy those high end 840's or other brands altogther for that matter?

Solution
A new Samsung 250 GB SSD costs around INR 7650 (USD 110). So its quite a good deal. I dont think the speed difference between SSD generations will be noticeable. Are you getting a warranty for it from the shopkeeper or from Samsung?

what i am more concerned about life how do new gen compare with old gen in that field (granted i wont do anything foolish like making it a cache drive)

Update : I got the SSD with health is excellent but for some reason samsung magician does not recognise my ssd though performance check results in 279 MB/s read 260 write
44~45 k random read and 35k random write
my question however is i cant notice any improvements before ssd my system easily booted in <20 sec now after clean install it seems to load in 10-15 sec

Please check your BIOS settings, the hard disk should be in AHCI mode and not IDE mode
