Hi,

I have a Lenovo Y-700-15ISK laptop,with i7-6700 HQ CPU @ 2.60 GHz.

With ThrottleStop I always use the turbo speed of the CPU while gaming, which is 3.50 GHz,and I also unpark the cores while gaming.

So far the CPU hasn't reached more than 75 degrees Celsius while gaming!

I would please you to tell me if these temps are normal and safe, and if the using of the turbo of the CPU and core unparking are safe, keeping in mind that I use them only while gaming!

And how much time can a CPU work at the temps of 73-75 degrees Celsius, without any harm for it,and shortening of its life-span?

And also is there a need of using the Lenovo Extreme Cooling feature while gaming?

Please tell me!
Thanks in advance!
Best regards!

Solution
The normal temp is around 60 degree. Because of graphic card and full use of the potential of your CPU this type of problem is generating dont panic on that it is due to bad contact with its cooler. You need to remove the cooler, clean the old thermal paste layer and apply a new one if you have a cooler otherwise buy a new.

I have the same CPU on an Asus RoG laptop and i lave locked mine at 2,2 Ghz. It is enough for everything i do (gaming, photo editing etc). My temps in full load are 66-68 degrees. In general, anything below 70 degrees is considered ok and safe on the long run.
