Question Which thread tap for motherboard spacer?

I bought a DTX case on special a couple months ago for the motherboard I bought some months before (that I never opened), which I thought was DTX; and it turns out the case is ~1/2" too small for it. I had a small--very--old case that I bashed the card slots out and cut the frame a bit for the motherboard rear ports to fit. The very old motherboard in it didn't have a modern form factor so it's spacers doesn't align with the one I'd like to install.

I have to make threaded holes for the motherboard spacers and I'm wondering which thread tap to buy. Anyone knows of the spacer screwing part specifications so I can tap the case frame?

Ive tapped a few case threads before and just used what ever tap I had and then "encouraged" the screw in.
Mind, I did some test holes in a suitable piece of un-seen case to get it just about ok first.

6-32 and M3 are the common threads found in PCs. Standoffs are usually 6-32.

Easy to test, take a standard case screw and see if it matches the threads on your standoffs.

Not only does the male part look the same as the case screw, it fit easily in the female part. I guess I'll get a tap for

Now I need to make a hole for my 200mm fan and I'd prefer not to cut/chafe my finger or inadvertently stick something in it and break the fan, so I need some mesh for the hole. I'm thinking the holes as large as a kid's pinkie wouldn't fit in it. I found the 5 mesh option of 5~40 Mesh Stainless Steel Woven Wire Filtration Filter Screen Sheet 15cmx30cm | eBay, currently at 10.64 CAD S&H included that I mirrored the corresponding images here, and I'm wondering if you have another suggestion?
