Hey guys, I am sure this might have been asked before, but I was not able to locate anything with my bad searching skills.

I am building my new gaming pc and was wondering which of these CPU I should get.

I'd be mostly using it for gaming, 4k, VR. Will be using it with a 2080Ti.

I have always used Intel, however in CPU benchmark list in PassMark is shown that the Ryzen is in the first place. Is this not related to gaming?

They are priced at same prices where I live,

Thanks.

At 4k they will perform pretty much same since the GPU will be the limitation. If you think you can leverage 12 cores then go for the 3900x. Unless you are doing some pretty heavy workstation tasks its doubtful you will use all of those threads. Consider saving the money and grabbing a 3700x instead. Even at 1080p you wouldn't see a huge difference between these 2 cpus. The 9900k might do 5-10% better on average across a large suite of games.

Thanks for your help guys, might just do as you suggested.

It is just that I wanted to do the build future proof. Money is not that much an issue.

Currently, I have Intel 4790k so want to get something that is at least twice better. So not that much difference getting the 3700x you say?
